Loan Periods

Renew items online via your Library Account, or contact us before the due date to avoid fines.

Library materials returned after the due date are subject to overdue fines.

Open-Shelf Books
- Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students: R8.00 per book per day, up to a maximum of R270.00 per person.
- External Members: R8.00 per book per day, up to a maximum of R270.00 per book.
- Academic, Administrative, and Service Staff: A 30-day grace period applies. Thereafter, a fine of R20.00 per book per day is charged, up to a maximum of R500.00 per book.
Short Loan Materials
- Students and External Members: R10.00 per item per overdue hour.
- Staff Members: R20.00 per item per overdue hour.
Lost or Damaged Items
- Borrowers are liable for the replacement cost of the item, based on the current market price (or last known price if out of print), plus a 10% handling fee.

Users are encouraged to return or renew borrowed materials on time to avoid fines and ensure continued access to library resources for all.
